Why A Bridal Trial Is So Important.

The day is finally here! Your bridesmaids arrive, bring coffee and snacks then the doorbell rings. It’s your hair & makeup artist. You do your introductions, your stylist sets up and you have a seat in her chair. You pull up your inspiration photos and discuss what you’re looking for with the hair and makeup. Your stylist asks lots of questions and then begins. After a couple hours you’re all ready. You’re running a little behind because of your discussion about the look and now it feels chaotic. A look in the mirror and something just doesn’t feel right. You look gorgeous. But it’s just not what you thought you would look like on your wedding day. Maybe it’s the eyeliner? Or the pieces framing your face? Are they too curled? Something just feels off.

But you’re running low on time and need to get to your venue. The day flies by and you find yourself weeks later still feeling like something is off when you finally get your wedding photos back. You look great but you wish you could’ve made some adjustments to your hair and makeup. A little less eyeliner, a little more blush. Maybe less pieces framing your face. Next week, when your friend calls to ask for your advice on whether or not she should do a hair and makeup trial - you assure her that a hair and makeup trial is so important.

Let’s be real. When your wedding day arrives, we don’t want any surprises. That goes for both of us - you ( the bride ) & your stylist. When it comes to hair & makeup there are a lot of factors that can’t be controlled. Which is why a trial is super important. Here are just a few reasons why you need to book a trial:

So You Can Test Out The Style

It’s important for you to test out your style, prior to your wedding day to see what worked and what didn’t. Makeup wise - see how the coverage looks in different lighting, how it looks throughout the day and if you are still happy with it by the end of the day. Obviously we are not magicians and cannot make lines, wrinkles and texture disappear, but we can make adjustments based on your feedback after your trial. In the hair department - see how it holds in the elements. Did your curls maintain the look you wanted all day? Did your face framing pieces relax too much?

A trial gives you a full day to see how your hair and makeup will look on your wedding day.

Do You Still Like The Look You Chose?

Often, it’s hard to imagine what a hairstyle or makeup look will actually look like on ourselves. You might love the winged eyeliner in your inspiration photo but - you have never worn winged eyeliner and after wearing it for a day decided it was a little too much. Now we can adjust for your wedding day. Or the textured updo on the blonde model with a head full of extensions doesn’t exactly look the same on your dark brown, mid length hair. It’s actually a good thing if you realize the look you chose needs some adjusting after the trial, rather than finding out on your wedding day.

To Save Time On Your Wedding Day

At your trial we will talk through the look you’re going for. We will also talk about your everyday hair and makeup, your wedding colours, your jewelry, your veil and all the other little details that will impact your hair and makeup for your wedding.

On your wedding day - things are usually a little more hectic. It’s your wedding day! Everyone wants to talk to you, send you well wishes, ask for your opinion, etc. The beauty of it all? You can get your hair and makeup done while all this is happening without having to be quizzed by your stylist because we’ve already done a trial, you’ve communicated your adjustments to us and all we need from you is for you to sit in the chair and we will handle the rest!

To summarize? A hair and makeup trial is 100% worth it and will have you walking into your wedding day with no worries because you know you will look exactly how you dreamed!
